State "recipes" for turning lemons into lemonade

get rid of your lemon carSince 1993 all 52 states provide consumers recourse under State "Lemon Law" statues.
Many of the laws provide for refund or replacement when:
  • A substantial defect cannot be fixed in 4 tries
  • A safety defect cannot be fixed within 2 tries
  • The auto is out of service for 30 days, within the first 12-18,000 miles/12-24 months

Some States provide a printable guide to their lemon law for example, California's Lemon-Aid. California's Lemon Law guide, Lemon Aid

However, not all states provide booklets and because each state implements the law differently, it is important to check your state's lemon law as administered by the State Attorney General.
